From a young age, Torin was mixing “medicines” in his backyard; concocting little potions, made from plants…and dirt. His father’s love for growing things, coupled with his mother’s love for the culinary arts, have helped hone him into the Clinical Herbalist he is today.
Before he was a professional herbalist, he was a full-time Private Gardener, and formerly a Horticulturist at Wave Hill gardens in NYC. Prior to that he worked in agricultural research for Cornell Cooperative Extension in upstate NY.
He studied contemporary and traditional herbalism full-time in NYC absorbing as much information as he could about Western, Eastern, Native American, and Ayurvedic methods. After his certification, he went on to study privately under Michael Tierra who is a renowned Herbalist and founding member of the American Herbalist Guild. His studies have led him all over the world. He considers himself a forever student, as with herbs, like most things, there is always more to learn!
Torin is a Clinical Herbal Practitioner, and botanical consultant. He is also the founder of Gnome Apothecary, which is what he considers to be the crystallization of his passions for both wildcrafting, and medicine making.
